A total of 217 cases of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus-Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) have been reported from January to June 2017.

Out of the 217 cases, 202 are males and 15 are females based on Reproductive Health and Wellness Center’s latest data obtained from Epidemiology Bureau of the Department of Health (DOH).

Since 1984, there have been a total of 2,080 reported cases. 110 lives have been lost.

Now HIV-AIDS cases have been rapidly increasing in number. But it is interesting to note as well that the total number of cases this year was lower than the 234 cases recorded in January to June 2016.

Between, ages 25 to 34, 102 cases were reported who tested positive of HIV/AIDS. From ages 15 to 24, there were 82 cases, 31 cases for ages 35 to 49; and 50 above with one.

In the fight against HIV-AIDS, RHWC, together with other concerned government agencies, is continuously doing its prevention education and peer education program.
