    Tagum City’s Lolo and Lola celebrate 17th Senior Citizens’ Day

    A cheering mob of senior citizens packed the Tagum City Trade and Cultural Center Pavilion during the Celebration of the 17th Senior Citizens’ Day last September 25, 2012.

    This is a part of the National Celebration for the Senior Citizens in the Philippines. With this year’s theme, “Sa Bisang RA 9994, May Dangal, Nagkakaisa, Buhay ay Gumiginhawa.”

    The City of Tagum through the leadership of Mayor Rey T. Uy has organized such event for the benefit of the elderly in the City.

    It was participated with 839 “lolos and lolas” from the different barangays in Tagum. The whole day activity was celebrated with “Lolo Pogi and Lola Beauty Got Talent”.

    In this event, whosoever brings home the crown will represent the City in the provincial level this coming October 3, to be held in Arriesgado College Gym at Tagum City. The winner in Dancercise would also represent the City in the provincial level.

    “The elderly must be enjoying life even at their age right now and not just to attend the needs of their grandchildren especially if the parents are in abroad,” stressed City Councilor Francisco Remitar who was present during the event.

    Aside from the events stated above, DAMA, Chess and Dart were also done simultaneously during the celebration.

    “They will surely enjoy this day for we also prepared prizes for them,” shared Mrs. Nora Lupiba who heads the City’s Social Welfare and Development Office.
